Even though Stevens was the son of a business man, he was not manipulated into the corrupt wealthy life.
Stevens was just like David Graham Philips because he uncovered the corruption of the government and also wanted the same thing to expose what he had found to the public also Philips came from a middle class family.
Just like Samuel Hopkins Adams, a fellow author and muckraker, he wanted change in the United States for the better.
Seems like during this time, becoming a "muckracker" was fairly common. With this one, I have counted 3 so far.
